Applying Organizational Democracy Principles
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

In order to fully and effectively function, organizational democracy has to be definitely incorporated to an organization or institution. WorldBlu's vision and principles are definitely the most standard and compelling ones that frames the different practices and politics of the company. rnOut of all the 10 principles, the best 2 that I would choose and leverage for my project's or initiative will be: Purpose and Vision, Decentralization. First, Purpose and Vision are the fundamental core and essence of the project or initiative. Without those the undertaking is meaningless. My project is made worthy and significant with its vision and purpose that it has and can therefore proceed and advance in a well-determined direction. My initiative is socially focused but with a huge technical definition considering its implementation. The purpose and vision are providing learning through advanced technology to underserved population and this is deemed achievable in a long or short term as long as this purpose and vision are sustained by the required actions and activities. rnSecondly, I chose decentralization because that's a core factor in how an institution is run and managed. One essential and necessary element of leadership is the ability to bring tasks to execution by tapping into decentralization and making sure people are employed for their abilities and talents that will help deliver the expected results or products.

Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

Any tremendous or significant undertaking bring its own relevant challenges that have to be faced, managed and addressed or overcame. In fact, the field of social entrepreneurship reveals itself as a more risk taking endeavor considering all resources invested, brings several important challenges and hurdles which remediation has come more or less easily. rnIn the process of planning a project within any given area, project teams or leaders have always been required to adopt a strategic and methodical approach and in order to accomplish such, require different types of resources and actions in which difficulties and challenges are encountered. More precisely, initially one fundamental challenge appears to be the lack of education or training in the field of project planning or management which can cause serious mistakes and flaws in the implementation. A second challenge faced can be the availability of resources or appropriate tools that come in scope when dealing with a substantial project. These can range from being of material, logistical, informational or financial order.rnAlso, during the project planning process, we as young social entrepreneurs can sometimes face the problem of information access, when it comes to documenting our assessments, studies and reports, meaning that government or regulation bodies can sometimes be reluctant to offer assistance or support in defining certain aspects or elements necessary to successfully plan projects.rnConsidering a Project cycle from an overall perspective and in terms of phases or steps, the main challenges as most encountered during the needs assessment phases and also during the implementation or execution phase where daunting problems can occur or arise.rnThe main solution to all this, lies in the fundamentals of the projects. The goals have to be clearly defined, the scope streamlined and the needs provisioned. This therefore implies a certain knowledgeability of the stakeholders and also more awareness and involvement from the project staff in delivering value and meaning.

Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

Following a previous analysis made on the challenges encountered while performing needs assessments, this is meant to reply to the question of the addressing theses challenges and therefore leveraging the role of social media in performing needs assessments.rnDespite challenges and difficulties that a certain targeted population or socio-cultural entity may present, it is always imperative to devise or implement ways of solving any differences, inconvenients, or problems. There has to be a common ground sought by the studies performers responsible for bridging such situations and providing the opportunities. rnUltimately, social media comes as a crucial element in conducting needs assessments. Social media as its suggests, consists of a strategic group achieving connection with local populations and resolving conflicts by knowing specifically the attributes and characteristics of the different groups and by successfully communicating with them in order to establish a convenient or apposite climate of collaboration for assessments to be performed.

It's been proven and established that every initiatives, undertaking or action particularly oriented in the social entrepreneurship context, is to be brought about through studies carried out and assessments conducted. These, depending on the targeted population and region encounter notable challenges and obstacle relevant to different or various factors tied to a multitude number of reason. rnParticularly considering my community, (my homecountry community), I can definitely make case of different cultural or tradition elements that can reveal themselves as a barrier to performing an effective needs assessment. First, it is of human nature to be of a certain reluctance or hostility when it comes to stepping into a certain social or ethnic entity regardless of any motives. This means that certain populations can be quite hostile or uncooperative initially when prompted to share some of their cultural values or assets. rnMy community in a general perspective is diverse one, with different ethnic/cultural backgrounds each one them respecting and honoring certain rules and values. Hence, in conducting a needs assessment, we can face the establishments of the cultural assets that can prevent people to describe themselves more, refrain from adopting certain new manners, habits, giving up some values or assets, or making concession for some social studies to be performed in their environment. This also involves tabous, domestic rules, language barriers, ignorance, and/or traditional hierarchy, and many others constraints.rnHowever, progressively people are brought to the point to be able to cooperate, collaborate and helps, with their mentality changed in the sense that studies will carried and performed in their best interest and for their development.

It think: ′Knowledge is Power! and that education is like a train every has get access to, in order to get to the destination of ′being a world citizen′. rnSo learning is a fundamental and crucial concept, never to be overlooked or neglected. More intrinsically, learning does not happen or occur only from inside out, but most from outside in. It's an acquisition process and therefore has to imply and involve collaboration. We learn from other people, what means that we have to be able to able to associate with other individuals in to be able to draw upon a resource. Learning collaboration is therefore a mind emulation and connection process which is therefore valid and effective when carried at distance. It essentially requires communication which has several vehicles. So online collaboration and learning which comes today as this innovative method of education has been proven to be more than effective and useful. With the new developments of ICTs, we are seeing new like Learning 2.0 that allows a high-quality and improved learning process. As a tool harnessed by Social entrepreneurs to conduct their initiatives and studies, I can affirm that it is generating more value and efficiency than ever. Online collaboration and learning saves costly expenses and operations made for an actual travel to a remote learning site, which falls in the context of environment preservation by reducing the CO2 production of flight traffic. rnUltiamtely, Leaning 2.0 helps us reach out to a broader mass population and allows us to get direct and real-time feedback from our respondents and peers.
